First Day Back

Didn't do much today but had an extremely warm welcome from my hosts Ronnie and Serah in Nairobi. They let me sleep in as a result of my jet lag, and then we went to visit some friends I haven't seen since my last time here.

Am excited to get started with everything, whatever Swahili I learned and subsequently forgot is slowly coming back to me, and overall its nice to be back in Africa.

Heading to Uganda and Rwanda tomorrow for some tourism, and then back to Kenya for the hard work to begin!

Pre-Departure

As I try to pack and put all my thoughts together, I realize that its been a while since I've last been to Kenya. May 2009 was when this entire project, and subsequent adventure, began and the progress that has been made by Adam's Youth Group and the Youth Ambassadors for Peace since then have been remarkable.

This time, we want to do something epic. We want to really make a name for ourselves in Kenya and ensure that we are able to impact a lasting peace in the country that holds strong and dominates throughout the next 18 months so that the next general elections do not end up in violence and bloodshed again. We want to make an impact, we want this to be grassroots, and we want to involve as many individuals and tribes as possible to ensure that a common understanding of humanity is achieved.

Tomorrow I fly to Kenya and hope to start working with those on the ground to make sure that we can do as much as possible in only one short month. There is lots to be done, but there is lots that CAN be done, and it must go hand-in-hand with positive thinking, an optimistic outlook, and the ability to effect change in the future.

So, here goes round 2.
